INDIVIDUAL INVITATION

75% of newly ordained say they were encouraged to consider the priesthood by either their priest and/or parishioners.

Invite young men to consider the priesthood and also invite them to attend some of the vocations initiatives in our diocese.  Some to consider:

MELCHIZEDEK PROJECT

Connect them with your Regional Vocation Promoter. This moves them a step towards more serious discernment. They now branch out from discussions with their local priest to another priest in the region who is specifically there for them in regards to discernment.  The more contacts with priests and seminarians we can facilitate the better they can begin to envision themselves with a possible priestly vocation.

Annual Events such as Quo Vadis Discernment Camp, Seminary Live-Ins, and Father and Son campouts are good opportunities for young men to discern further.

The Melchizedek Project is a spiritual discernment group that helps high school and college-aged men consider a vocation to the Priesthood. It is based on the book “To Save A Thousand Souls” by Fr. Brett Brannen.

ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

We also hold a couple of cookouts with the seminarians and known discerners in the summer. If you are interested in attending and/or inviting a discerner or two, contact us at the office for more information: vocations@columbuscatholic.org

If you would like more help in figuring out who to invite, you might consider the Serra Club’s “Called by Name" program. This program solicits the names of potential discerners from parishioners.
